Meet the St Bernards Team
Nursery Manager/Owner - Carolyn
Carolyn has been a nursery manager since 1991 and became manager/owner at St Bernard’s in 1998.
She has a BA in Primary Practice, Foundation Degree in Childhood studies and a NNEB qualification.
She also has a food hygiene qualification and is First Aid trained.
Assistant Manager - Debbie
Debbie has been at the nursery since 1998 and has worked in nurseries since 1992. She is the nursery’s SENDco (Special Educational Needs and Disability co-ordinator) who is responsible for assessing, planning and monitoring the progress of children with special needs/disability. She is also the nursery’s Lead Safeguarding Practitioner.
She has a NNEB qualification and a NVQ 4 in Children’s care, learning and development. She also has advanced university certificate in ‘Language and communication impairment in children'.
She also has a first aid and food hygiene qualification.
Deputy Manager - Nicola
Nicola has been at the nursery since 1998 and especially enjoys rhyme time with the children.
She has an NVQ 3 in Childcare and Education, Elkland NVQ 3 in Speech and Language ages 3-5 and is a qualified NVQ assessor.
She also has a food hygiene qualification and is First Aid trained. Part of her role is to support the inclusion co-ordinator supporting with children with additional needs.
Early years Practitioner - Tracey
Tracey has been at the nursery since 2000 and has worked in schools for a number of years.
Tracey implements the EYFS to the 2-3 year olds.
She has a NVQ 4 qualification in Children’s care, learning and development. She also has a food hygiene qualification and is First Aid trained.
Early years Practitioner - Fiona
Fiona has been working in nurseries since 2014. She has a level 3 in childcare and education and is also trained in first and food hygiene.
She is interested in progressing and extending her knowledge in special educational needs through experience and training.
Early years Practitioner - Rachel
Rachel joined the nursery in January 2022 and has been working in nurseries since 2014 after qualifying with a NVQ level 3 in Childcare and Education.
She is trained to level 4 in safeguarding and is also trained in food hygiene and First Aid.
Early years Practitioner - Hayley
Hayley joined the nursery in 2016 and has worked in nurseries since 2008.
She has a NVQ 3 qualification in Childcare and Education and NVQ 3 management.
She is first aid trained and works mainly with the 3-4 year olds, she especially enjoys helping the children with their numbers and letters.
Early years Practitioner - Donna
Donna joined the nursery in March 2019 and has worked with children for 20 years.
She has level 3 child education in early years qualification and a level 3 in Child psychology. She is first aid and Safeguarding trained.
When Donna is at nursery she enjoys working with children and is very creative, especially enjoying joining in with their messy play and baking with the children.
Early years Practitioner - Lucy
Lucy has worked in nurseries since 2001. She has a NVQ 3 in Childcare and Education and joined the nursery in 2014.
At present she works with the 3-4 year olds, helps the children at lunchtime and particularly likes helping in the craft area.
She is first aid trained.
Early years Practitioner - Becky
Becky has worked in childcare since 2012 and is qualified with a level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce and a level 2 in Awareness of Mental Health Problems and understanding children and young people’s mental health.
She is a 3-year-old children’s key person who also has a food hygiene qualification and is First Aid trained.
Becky enjoys working with loose parts and objects that spark interest and curiosity in children, encouraging their imaginations at take them wherever they choose to go, which builds confidence, self-esteem and resilience in the children.
Nursery Chef - Fiona
Fiona joined the nursery in 2018 as the nursery cook. She has worked in catering for 25 years.
She plans the menus, prepares and cooks balanced meals for the children every day, keeping the kitchen clean and well stocked.
She has a food hygiene qualification which she updates regularly.
